Mad Men Questions 10/19

1. Heather Havrilesky's main insight about Mad Men is how it relates to real day America with our "American Dream" and how achieving our united dream is better said than done. A specific passage that reflects this conclusion is probably when the author first starts talking about Mad Men on page 171 paragraph 3.  Havrilesky starts with describing how even back in history where Mad Men is based, achieving the American dream was difficult or worse than achieving it today, with all the wars and other difficulties they faced.

2. Havrilesky establishes her authority to write about Mad Men with a small description of her at the bottom of page 170 stating that she is a television critic.

3. Havrilesky appeals to the readers’ emotions by describing what we all dream of, the American dream. A life that is full of luxury and wealth. She does this in paragraph 1 of page 170 as she describes the American dream

4. I am not familiar with the show Mad Men, but Havrilesky's description of the show helped me understand the premise, and really pulled me in. I am going to attempt to watch it, or at least the first episode.
